Opening Prayer:  Holy One you created us in love and are continually pouring yourself into each of us and all creation.  Thank you, for your unconditional love.  Amen.

Reading 1: A reading from the prophet Micah

The Holy One has already made abundantly clear what “good” is, and what is expected of you:  simply do justice, love kindness and humbly walk with your God.

Reading 2: A Reading from Howard Thurman

The Work of Christmas

When the song of the angels is stilled,

When the star of in the sky is gone,

When the kings and princes are home,

When the shepherds are back with their flock,

The work of Christmas begins:

To find the lost,

To heal the broken,

To feed the hungry,

To release the prisoner,

To rebuild the nations,

To bring peace among others,

To make music in the heart.

Silent reflection: do I bring peace to others, and do I have music in my heart?

Intentions

Loving One, you give us all that we need, you fill us with your love, light and grace. We pray for an end to all wars and conflicts, especially in Palestine and Israel and the Ukraine and Russia.

Loving One, you give us faith that all will be well. We pray that we all may be one.

Loving One, you give us your love unconditionally. We pray for those we find  difficult to love.

Loving One, you give us strength in difficult times. We pray for those who are suffering and do not have basic necessities for themselves and their families.

Loving One, you give us your peace. We pray for all those who are angry or suffering from separation.

Loving One, you heal our bodies, minds and souls.  We pray for all those suffering from any kind of illness.

Loving One, we specifically pray for …..

We pray for these and all our unspoken prayers we hold in our hearts.  Amen

Closing prayer:  Holy One, we are never alone, you are with us in all we endeavor, and we stand together in faith and action to increase love and peace in the world.  May we continue to do the “work of Christmas”.

Closing Song: I Am the One – Janis Ian, video by Denise Hackert-Stoner
