Welcome and may the peace of the Holy One be with you tonight and always. Our world is filled with chaos and suffering. Every day we ask ourselves what are we to do?
Mother Teresa told us to do small things with great love.
Jesus said you are the salt of the earth, and the light of the world.
Let us pray: Holy One, please help us to remember we are created in love, to love. Amen.

Launch a Lifeboat
In Hope Dark, Rebecca Solnit recalls the way that in the after math of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, hundreds of individual boat owners saved countless people stranded in the flooding waters. She writes, “none of them said, ‘I can’t rescue everyone, therefore it’s futile; therefore, my efforts are flawed and worthless.’ As true with many of the world’s current crises, the situation was far from perfect, as were the rescue efforts. But for the people whose lives were saved? It was everything. In the face of national or global problems, it’s understandable that we find ourselves saying “I don’t know what to do.” One step toward action is to embrace the idea of the imperfect but meaningful contribution. Accept that your action won’t save everyone but that it may, for someone, save everything.
Make one contribution today, without concern for its scale. Instead of asking how do I solve this enormous crisis?” ask yourself, “What can I do today that would make difference to someone who is suffering?
Now launch your lifeboat: send the email, make a donation, sign up for a shift, make a call, cook the meal. The point is completion not perfection.
Share what you did today or will do tonight or tomorrow to make a difference?
Bringing our hearts intentions to our Moment of Oneness as we launch our individual lifeboats.
Closing song: Go Make a Difference
