Joy in Lent

Welcome tonight as we look forward to Springtime and the rebirthing of the Earth. Tonight, we continue the period of preparation for Easter, celebrated this year on April 20th. How can we prepare differently this year? Can we use this opportunity to refocus our commitment to our spiritual journey but in a lighter, more joyful way?  This is a great time for some spring cleaning and decluttering to lighten our loads and make room for what we do want to bring into our lives!  May you feel God's extravagant tenderness in this present moment. Instead of “giving up” some bit of pleasure can we choose to “lean in” to the joy that God has prepared for us? That Joy can be the coming of Spring and new life.

Be completely still for a moment and feel balance and peace. Take a moment to relax and Breathe in love, Breathe out peace.

What would it be like to consume with full awareness that we are recipients of earthly gifts, which we have not earned? Ex: berries. To consume with humility?

We are called to harvest honorably, with restraint, respect, reverence, and reciprocity.

Guidelines of the Honorable Harvest by Robin Wall Kimmerer

Meditation: When gathering your fruits and vegetables.

Know the ways of the ones who take care of you, so that you can take care of them.

Ask permission before taking of the goods (in your garden or food shop).

Never take the first one. Never take the last. {At a gathering}

Only take what you need.

Never take more than half. Leave some for others.

Use it respectfully. Never waste what you have taken.

Share.

Give thanks for what you have been given.

Intentions

At this time, please bring any blessings or concerns you would like the community to share.

We share all of these prayers in the hand of the Holy One. Amen

Closing Song: “Everything Is Holy Now” by Pete Mayer with Lyrics
