Holy Wells, Desert Spring & Fountains

Take three deep breaths, release all your anxiety.

Opening Prayer:

“I will open rivers on the bare heights,

and fountains in the midst of the valleys,

I will make the wilderness a pool of water,

and the dry land springs of water. Isaiah 41:18

Let all your troubles go...

Something to ponder: "One of the things that is going to become an environmental issue in the coming years is water, how can we love and care for it?"

Song “Wade In The Water” by The Spirituals (stop at 1:09)

Reading 1:  Have you been to one of those places by the seashore when there is an opening under the rocks and, as a wave comes in, water spouts upward all of a sudden?  Our creative energy is often like that, like an unexpected spring or fountain within the heart. Often it comes like the surprising gift of water in the desert or out through the hard, stony edges of the heart. These waves of creative energy can cause us some hesitancy, some worry that it might be over too soon, or some uncertainty about when it might return.

Reading 2: This response comes from a Place of scarcity, a sense that there might not be enough. I have long wrestled with what is enough for me. Yet somehow, because I have discovered this spring bursting forth again and again, I no longer live in fear of when this time of abundance will wane. Perhaps it comes from having lived through enough ebbing and flowing to know that when the creative energy dissipates, it means I am being called back inward to rest and renew. I need to go drink all my fill again or rest into the healing waters. And when the surge is rising, I dance in its splendor and joy.  By Christine Valters Paintner

Praying With Healing Water:

Spend some time by a fountain, listening to the flow of the water and contemplating its invitation for your own life. Pay attention to those places where water wants to surge up and offer its refreshment. Make note of the streams, rivers, and other water sources near you as places to pray.
