Welcome

In late August, with vines heavy with ripening tomatoes, sweet corn boiling in the pot and kitchen counters laden with zucchini, we have so much to be thankful for.  Let’s pause now in a moment of gratitude and awareness, as we take notice of the abundance surrounding us.

Opening Prayer

Holy One, you have blessed us with seasons.  And in this season of plenty, which greets us like unexpected music on an ordinary day, we thank you.

Opening Song:  Ode to Joy, Flash Mob

Reading:  From “Hokusai Says” by Roger S. Keyes

Hokusai says look carefully.
He says pay attention, notice.
He says keep looking, stay curious.
He says there is no end to seeing.

He says it doesn’t matter if you draw,
or write books. It doesn’t matter
if you saw wood, or catch fish.
It doesn’t matter if you sit at home
and stare at the ants on your veranda
or the shadows of the trees
and grasses in your garden.
It matters that you care.

It matters that you feel.

It matters that you notice.

It matters that life lives through you.

Intentions

At this time please bring any blessings or concerns you would like the community to share.

We place all of these prayers in the welcoming hands of our Beloved.

Amen.

Closing Prayer

Holy One, we ask for eyes that see all of the blessings that surround us in this abundant season.  We are grateful.  Help us in our gratitude.  Amen.
