Opening Prayer:  Holy One, every day we pray. We pray for peace, we pray for healing, we pray for our family and friends. Every time we pray we breath in you love. May we breathe deeply tonight.  Amen.

A Reading from The Breath of the Soul by Joan Chittister

Prayerfulness, is the capacity to walk in touch with God through everything in life. It is the internal awareness that God is with me—now, here, in this, always. It is an awareness of the continuing presence of God. It is my dialogue with the living God who inhabits my world in Spirit and in Mind.

Prayerfulness sees God everywhere.
Prayerfulness talks to God everywhere.
Prayerfulness submits the uncertainties of the moment to the   scrutiny of the internal eyes of God.

It trusts that no matter how malevolent the situation may be, I can walk through it unharmed because God is with me.

Prayerfulness is both gift and grace, both a natural disposition and a quality of soul to be developed.

Prayerfulness is fostered by the simple consciousness that God is. That God is near us at all times. That God is closer to us than the breath we breathe. That God is available, a silence in the midst of chaos, a voice in the midst of confusion, a promise at the center of the tumult.

If I ask and I listen and I reach out and I fill my heart with the words of the One who is the Word, then I will be answered. Somehow the path will become clear.

For our intentions tonight let us sit in silence for one full minute and recall all those we have been asked to pray for and all those in need of prayer.  In the silence of our hearts we hold in prayer……

The Holy One hears us and knows our needs. Amen. Let it be so.

Psalm 103 as created by Nan Merrill

Bless the Beloved, O my soul, and all that is within me; I bless your Holy Name.

Bless the Beloved, O my soul, and remember the goodness of love.

You forgive our stubbornness, you heal our disease, you save us from the snares of fear, you crown us with steadfast love and mercy, you satisfy our every need and renew our spirit like the eagle’s.

Through you comes peace and justice for all who are oppressed. You make known the pathway of truth and guide us on our way.

You love us more than we can ask or imagine, in truth we belong to you.  Amen.

Closing Blessing

May the Great Birther who created you in wholeness comfort you when you call.

May the name of Love be your protection, and rise up in your heart as a tower of strength.

May all you have given in gratitude and with open hands be returned to you a hundredfold.

May your heart’s desires and all of Love’s plan for you be filled in due season.

Let us shout for joy as Love triumphs over fear; Let our thankful hearts sing in acclamation to the Beloved who answers our heartfelt prayers for well-being.

O Beloved you who created us, you bless us with you Love, for you are the Divine Guest dwelling within our hearts.  Amen.
