Welcome: Awake and listen is our theme from this week’s Lenten Journal. We can only truly listen in the silence. Our world is in chaos at times, peace comes in the silence.

Opening Prayer:  Holy One, at times we are overwhelmed in the noise of the world. We become distracted by our long to-do list. We are often distracted by worries and anxieties.  Let us find rest and peace as we share our moment of oneness.  Amen.

A Reading from the Book of 1 Kings

The Holy One said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of YHWH, for YHWH is about to pass by.”

Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountain apart and shattered the rocks by YHWH’s power - but YHWH was not in the whirlwind.

After the wind there was an earthquake - but YHWH was not in the earthquake.

After the earthquake came a fire - but YHWH was not in the fire. And after the fire came sheer silence.

When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.

Moment of silence

May we hear your voice in the struggle of the immigrant at our border. May the children who are separated be reunited with their families. Amen-let it be so.

May we hear your voice in the LGBTQ communities. May they be accepted and know they are loved. Amen-let it be so.

May we hear your voice each Sunday as we read the names of those we know and those we do not know who are suffering from cancer. May they find healing in their mind and body. Amen-let it be so.

May we hear your voice from those who are suffering from Covid. May those who are grieving the loss of loved ones be comforted.  Amen-let it be so.

May we hear your voice from those who do not have enough food to feed their families. May we give generously to those in need. Amen-let it be so.

May we hear your voice in our worries and anxieties. May we find peace in your gentle whisper.  Amen -let it be so.

Closing Song: Whisper – Jason Upton (begin at 00:50)
